# Earning XP

> Every way to earn XP

XP is earned by competing, not by showing up. Every dollar you put on the line, every streak you keep alive, every rank you climb — it all converts into Season XP. This page is the complete reference.

<Note>
  XP only ever comes from **competitions** and **social** activity. [Duels](/duels/rules) are winner-take-all cash matches and award **no Season XP**.
</Note>

## Trading & competitions

Your buy-in is the foundation. Everything else — streaks, placement, avoiding liquidation — stacks on top of it.

| Action                                                 | XP                                     |
| ------------------------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------- |
| Enter a competition                                    | **1 XP per \$1** of entry fee          |
| Daily participation bonus (buy-in of **\$10 or more**) | **+25 XP**                             |
| Duels                                                  | **0 XP** — duels never award Season XP |

<Tip>
  A $50 buy-in earns **50 XP** on its own. Clear the $10 threshold on the same day and you pick up the **+25 XP** daily bonus automatically — no separate action required.
</Tip>

### Streak milestones

Qualify for the daily participation bonus on consecutive days and you'll unlock one-time streak bonuses at these thresholds:

| Streak  | Bonus (one-time) |
| ------- | ---------------- |
| 3 days  | **+150 XP**      |
| 7 days  | **+600 XP**      |
| 30 days | **+4,500 XP**    |
| 90 days | **+25,000 XP**   |

Each milestone pays out once per streak — break the chain and you start climbing back toward the next one from zero.

### Placement bonuses

Where you finish adds a **percentage on top of your buy-in XP** — not on your winnings, on the XP your entry fee already earned.

| Placement           | Bonus    |
| ------------------- | -------- |
| 1st place           | **+60%** |
| 2nd place           | **+25%** |
| 3rd place           | **+15%** |
| Top 10%             | **+10%** |
| Top 25%             | **+5%**  |
| Avoided liquidation | **+10%** |

The liquidation bonus is independent of rank — survive the competition without getting liquidated and it applies regardless of where you place.

## Worked example

A **\$50 buy-in**, finishing **2nd**, and surviving the competition without liquidation:

| Component                                 | XP          |
| ----------------------------------------- | ----------- |
| Buy-in (1 XP × \$50)                      | 50          |
| Daily participation bonus (buy-in ≥ \$10) | +25         |
| 2nd place bonus (25% of buy-in XP)        | +12.5       |
| Avoided liquidation (10% of buy-in XP)    | +5          |
| **Total**                                 | **92.5 XP** |

## Social XP

Growing the Speculate name pays too. Link your accounts, follow, and post — each converts into XP.

| Action                                                                 | XP                    |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------- |
| Link your Discord                                                      | **+100** (one-time)   |
| Link your X account                                                    | **+100** (one-time)   |
| Follow [@SpeculateTrade](https://x.com/SpeculateTrade) on X (verified) | **+1,000** (one-time) |

### Posting on X

XP for a qualifying post scales with your follower count — the bigger your reach, the bigger the payout.

| Followers            | XP per post |
| -------------------- | ----------- |
| 100                  | 1           |
| 1,000                | 50          |
| 5,000                | 110         |
| 10,000               | 250         |
| 50,000 (super-post)  | **1,000**   |
| 500,000 (super-post) | **2,500**   |

<Note>
  These are the current Season's **default values** and can be tuned per Season. Check [XP & Seasons](/rewards/xp) for how a Season is structured, and [Tiers](/rewards/tiers) for what your total XP unlocks.
